Los Ángeles – Romeroso 2021
Single-Vineyard Garnacha – Campo de Borja, Aragón, Spain
Born from 50+ year-old dry-farmed vines at over 700 meters above sea level, Romeroso 2021 is a Garnacha of exceptional depth and finesse. Grown in ferrous clay and schist soils and shaped by the fierce Cierzo wind, this wine is the reflection of extreme terroir.
What makes it extraordinary is the interplay between vineyard age, elevation, and climate conditions. The high altitude slows ripening, allowing for exceptional aromatic development and the preservation of vibrant acidity. The old vines, with their deep roots, yield fewer grapes but deliver intense concentration, layered red and black fruit, and subtle earthy undertones. And the Cierzo, the powerful northwesterly wind of the Ebro Valley, cools the vines and sharpens the wine’s definition, giving Romeroso its freshness and clarity.
Aged for 18 months in large-format oak barrels (500L & 300L), with 20% whole cluster included, Romeroso delivers a stunning combination of power, elegance, and aromatic complexity.
Deep ruby in the glass, it opens with an intense bouquet of ripe blackberries, black cherries, and plum, layered with rose petal, violet, vanilla, and the signature white pepper spice that defines great Garnacha.
On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, juicy, structured and remarkably balanced. Concentrated red and black fruit unfurl with herbal undertones, hints of licorice, and a touch of earthiness. The freshness from the high-altitude site lifts the wine, adding vibrancy and length to an already commanding presence.
A wine of stature and soul—wild yet composed, powerful yet pure. This is Garnacha at its most profound. Serve with slow-roasted lamb, wild mushrooms, or simply savored on its own, with time and reverence.
