Muscat 2017
Muscat Blanc à petit Grains is the oldest known Muscat grape variety. The name would suggest a French origin, but the muscat grape is most likely brought to the Roman Empire by the Greeks, who on their turn brought it from Asia. As the oldest member of the Muscat grape family, Muscat Blanc à petit Grain has an excellent reputation and is cultivated in most Mediterranean countries and far beyond for dry, medium, sweet and sparkling wines. Well-known names are Muscat d’Alsace, Moscato Bianco, Moscato d’Asti, Moscatel de Grano Menudo and the South African Muskadel.
Muscat from Maurer Winery is made from the Tamjanika variety, a Serbian clone from Muscat à petit Grain and known as indigenous Serbian grape variety. Dry white wine, because of maceration also referred to as orange wine, with a fruity nose of grapes, with sun and warmth in the glass. Floral accents of roses, citrus, peach and a hint of quince. Balanced acidity as well as balanced tannins thanks to 4 days of maceration/skincontact and maturation in 300 liter oak barrel. Bottled unfiltered, contains no added sulphites.
