Oszkar Maurer keeps on surprising us with every new vintage of Mezes Feher!
We have had Medenac Beli as plain white, plain orange, we had it under a veil of fleur also as dry szamorodni (partly botrytised grape), all of them coming from old oak barrels.
And this time…
Mezes Feher 2020, 7 days semi-carbonic maceration and aged in Tava amphora for 14 months.
Golden-amber colour, somewhat hazy in the glass, needless to say, unfiltered and unfined.
Intensive aroma of orange peel, stone fruit and fresh pineapple.
After some time in the glass the wine reveals floral tones of wildflowers; the scent of freshly crushed blackcurrant leaves and green tea.
Complex wine that once out of the bottle keeps on developing and changing, releasing an abundance of incentives.
Prominent, secondary aromas of biscuit and fresh brioche accompanied with sunburned hay and chestnut honey will just make you longing for the next sip and one more glass.
Moderate, fresh acidity and silky tannins gliding across the palate lead to a clean and pleasing finish.
