Thinking we reached the point where everybody has heard of Orange Wine and many even dared to try, we prepared a box aiming to show orange wine is much more than just extended skin contact.

Especially with this style winemakers take freedom to express their vision or, even better, they take a step back and let nature do its own thing.

Starting with Orange Petnat made from Riesling, ‘rustic, yeasty, lively and full-bodied. A fruit and mineral bomb for those who are not afraid of the funk and the fun’ quoting our friend @gillessuprin

One more from Matic Wines, again Riesling but this time with 214 days maceration in Amphora with aroma of apple, cider and after some time of the open bottle orange blossom, honeysuckle, dry roses and well balanced tannins with a fresh streak of acidity.

Moving to Oszkar Maurer please meet Kevedinka, a grape that a part from Serbia, Croatia and Hungary no one has ever heard of, unfined unfiltered wine layered with rich floral and fruity flavors, fresh green apple, hint of orange peel, mimosa blossom and refreshing acidity.

Fodor, olaszrizling aka welschriesling aka riesling italico, and every region in central Europe has its own name for this grape; part of the grapes are affected by noble rot/botrytis, a zero-zero wine nothing taken away from the juice and nothing added to the wine.

One more obscure grape Mezes Feher aka Medenac Beli, one of the favorite grapes in central Europe before phylloxera, survived in some of Oszkar Maurer’s vineyards, late harvest and botrytised grape, aged under flor – cap of yeast that forms over the wine as it ages in barrel, protecting the wine from oxidation, unconventional, balanced orange wine with unique character.

Last but not least and personal favorite, Muscat in the bottle, no added sulphur, oak barrel aged, unfiltered, rustic dry and exotic; 100% Tamjanika grape variety, a Serbian clone of Muscat a petit Grain, the wine is grapy and peachy, with floral accent of roses, with hints of spices and bitters and well balanced acidity.
