Muller-Koeberle Solera wine is like no other!
This wine is made with the Solera method, which is a unique way of blending and aging, that involves moving different vintages from barrel to barrel over a few years.
In this case the Alsatian Solera is a blend of four vintages of wine made from Riesling 2018, Pinot Gris 2019, Gewurztraminer 2020 and Pinot Noir 2021.
The grapes are sourced from the Langenberg – Clos des Aubépines plot, famous for being one of the best locations in the Alsace, with south exposition and characterized by granitic substrate.
It is a terroir that offers lively, expressive and acidic wines with a savory saline kick on the finish.
After the final blending the wine is aged for two more years in large wooden barrels called foudres, without topping up.
The result is a wine with a deep amber colour, with the smell and taste of nuts, dried fruits, herbs, spices and with an amazing salinity ending in an immortal finish.
Dominated by secondary and tertiary aromas, this wine is a breathtaking hurricane of a savory-umami sensation, butterscotch and resin; honored with an oxidative touch of dried apricot and orange marmalade soufflé.
This could be the Red Pill, the final boss, level wine!
If you are looking for a wine that will challenge your senses and change your perspective, here is one.
It’s not easy to find, but it’s worth the hunt.
