Maurer – Tamjanika 2022
Hailing from a 2008 vineyard nestled on the southeastern slopes of Fruška Gora, this Tamjanika embodies the unique terroir of the region.
Planted on pristine soil untouched for over half a century, the vines thrive in a steep, mineral-rich environment surrounded by forest and scrub.
This idyllic location, overlooking the Danube, is teeming with wildlife and imparts a distinct character to the grapes.
The wine presents a deep, golden-yellow hue with undertones of polished amber.
The nose is an immediate and captivating burst of ripe muscat grapes, followed by delicate notes of elderflower, citrus zest, rose petal, and peach.
A subtle, almost imperceptible veil of volatile acidity adds intriguing complexity, foreshadowing the palate’s surprise.
Despite the aromatic promise of sweetness, this wine is bone dry. The palate is dominated by ripe white fruits, particularly juicy yellow melon and fragrant quince, expertly balanced by a vibrant, almost electric acidity. The mineral character is striking, like crushed quartz, adding a crystalline purity to the wine. The finish is impressively long, with a lingering, unctuous texture that coats the palate.
Harvested at full ripeness with 15% dried berries (aszu) on the bunches, the grapes underwent a five-day skin contact before aging for 16 months in used 500-liter barrels
